A grab bag of lusciousness

Le 1603 Soap Shop

You’ll cross paths with naturopath Guylaine Audet when she’s on her bike, with its pretty basket on the handlebars for everything she’s picked, and a box on the back for her 4-legged companion Jules, on the chemin des Coudriers road on the Isle-aux-Coudres. We love her pine-scented Aux fruits des arbres cream, and her wild rose products.

Emu oil

Eczema, stretch marks, fine lines, scarring, muscle pain, acne, neonatal care… with its stunning power to hydrate, its non-greasy feel, its omegas and natural fatty acids, emu oil, used by Australian Indigenous peoples for 4,000 years, shows, in the high-quality products from Émeu Charlevoix, everyday benefits for all types of skin (even sensitive skin).

Yoga Charlevoix

For Iyengar yoga, meditation, and mindful breathing, the Baie-Saint-Paul studio that Emmanuelle Marion runs acts as an anchor to help you stay in the present and stay connected to yourself. A therapeutic approach to senior clients, massage therapy, off-site workshops: Yoga Charlevoix is a haven of wellbeing in this area.

Did you know that aromatherapy is, very simply, the use of authentic essential oils for the purpose of self-care and for the care of others? Since the dawn of time, we have cultivated aromatic plants, and we have used them as treatments to take care of ourselves. Whether to repel undesirables, to use in our hygiene routine, or to soothe daily aches and pains… Maybe you know more about essential oils than you think you do: they are largely responsible for the deep feeling of wellbeing we get while walking in the forest; they provide the flavours and put some life into our meals… That’s right, fine herbs are also aromatic plants! Additionally, using essential oils means focussing on our most underused sense: Smell! Our olfactory sense benefits a great deal, the more it's used to improve the quality of our lives. Surprisingly, this sense is strongly associated with cognition, i.e., our limbic system, the seat of memory and emotions. So, starting now, essential oils are allies to be discovered and used.

Black spruce and rose-scented body oil

Comforting, and reminiscent of the fragrance in the forests of Charlevoix, this oil provides welcome soothing after a long day at work, or a nice long walk!

In a 50 ml amber glass bottle containing neutral vegetable oil (e.g., sunflower oil or jojoba wax), add 15 drops of black pine essential oil and a few dried rose petals, which, over the course of use, will infuse the mixture. This dilution is appropriate for adults and for children over two years of age. Store it for up to two years in a dark, dry, cool place.

Ferme À Ciel sur Mer

Medicinal herbs and organic aromatics

Giant hyssop, calendula, chamomile, Echinacea, mint or lemon balm… These are a few of the 20 species cultivated at the Ferme à ciel sur mer using the principles of regenerative agriculture, harvested at full maturity, by hand, in the summer, and dried on-site.

In the hills of Pointe-au-Pic, Mike and Maya’s family land produces medicinal herbs worth discovering, or rather, rediscovering, for their incredible healing properties: boosting the immune system, reducing stress, helping good digestion, and the maintenance of healthy skin... Used for millennia, and as the basis for modern medicine, the organic herbs, roots, and blossoms grown here are infused, cooked, and transformed in harmony with your inspirations, contributing to the wellbeing of body and mind, one tea, and one ointment, at a time! They are given to us in pretty little La Ferme à ciel sur mer packets, sold online through the company’s website, while the farm’s blog helps us hone our knowledge of and interest in these powerful assets for natural health.
