Located on a promontory swept by river mist and scented by the ebb and flow of the tides, a few notes rise from a world-class institution into the Saint-Irénée sky, brushing the centuries-old treetops and the impressive contemporary sculptures as they go.

Four Seasons of Domaine Forget

Amidst celebrity soloists, pop artists, and students of classical music, Domaine Forget pulses with music. This turn-of-the-century former vacation home was converted into a concert hall with exceptional acoustics, to welcome symphony orchestras, the greats of French song, contemporary Quebec artists, and conferences, comedy shows, and theatrical performances for kids… All of these performances take place during the two major “seasons” on the Domaine’s calendar: the summer’s International Festival and the Variety programming in spring and fall.

The inspirational setting also benefits the great musicians and dancers of tomorrow, who breathe deeply of the salt air, taking time to perfect their art, helped by some of the best performer-educators at the Academy that occupies the Domaine’s former stables and outbuildings. In summer, at the end of the jetty a stone’s throw from Saint-Irénée’s municipal beach, or in the bustling districts of neighbouring towns, you might just come across a performance by a string quartet, the members of which are Academy students, bringing the Domaine Forget’s talent development mission full circle.

International Festival

In summer, the Domaine Forget radiates and resonates with the rhythms and high art of symphony orchestras, soloists, and strong voices — here a soprano, there a tenor. Dancers and jazz musicians can be found on the program during the International Festival. The “art without borders days,” a central part of Festival programming, feature outdoor concerts, yoga on the beach, and much more. Some great news that event spokesperson, performer Guylaine Tremblay, relays with enthusiasm.

Walk in the Sculpture Garden

More than three kilometres of trails, accessible free of charge to the whole family, criss-cross Domaine Forget’s Charlevoix property. Scattered here-and-there across the landscape, the Sculpture Garden’s permanent collection of monumental works of contemporary art add colour and life to the always-spectacular views. This garden can be discovered and explored both when the trees turn green, and when the Domaine’s trees are covered in winter snow.

Stay at the Domaine…

Tourist accommodations can be found in the Domaine Forget’s rental studios, just two minutes away from a beach that has all the usual water’s-edge delights, including low-tide walks on the sun-warmed clay of the St. Lawrence River, up and down the length of which the whistling train de Charlevoix travels, coming and going just in front of bustling restaurants, ice-cream parlours, and pastry shops. Offered year-round, these accommodations provide spectacular views by way of the balconies and many windows contained in 37 units, 29 of which include kitchenettes.

Celebrate at the Domaine…

Whether your event is arts and culture-focussed or corporate, health and wellness-, tourism-, or school-focussed, or personal, recognizing major life events (weddings, graduations, reunions, baptism parties, or after-funeral gatherings) the Domaine Forget has outdoor and indoor spaces, and full packages (catering and audiovisual services) to welcome your group…
