Pays'art Pierre Bouchard and Porcherie Roger Gauthier
On a fence across the fields, on the Porcherie Roger Gauthier family farm, just above the river at Saint-Irénée, visual artist Pierre Bouchard talks about his creative spirit, taking flight here as a flock of fluorescently multi-coloured wild geese.
A surge of colour
In a tiny ancestral home surrounded by the vines of the Famille Migneron’s small Charlevoyou vineyard in Baie-Saint-Paul, contemporary artist Pierre Bouchard brings vibrant, fluorescent landscapes to life with spirited dashes of aerosol and strokes of acrylic paint, imbued with a feeling for this place, and bold funkiness! What a paradigm for this thoroughly contemporary character, interwoven with ideas inspired by folk art, by local novices and the raw creativity of their art, stripped of any need to please. Pierre includes himself as one of that breed of artist who splash colour everywhere, and on everything they touch.
It’s as natural as breathing, that’s what creation is, you know. You want to create because you think it’s beautiful, because you think it’s weird…
On a fence across the fields, on the Porcherie Roger Gauthier family farm, just above the river at Saint-Irénée, Pierre talks about his creative spirit, taking flight here as a colourful flock of wild geese: a positive reflection on animal husbandry. The artist is an advocate of agrifood producers and their concern for animal welfare. A value he shares with Patrice Gauthier, a pig farmer whose goal is to defend the quality of the work done by those who earn their daily living by raising animals in a compassionate way.
