Fleurs de lune
Perched on the side of a hill landscaped with a flower garden, near the rue St-Raphaël, in the village of Cap-à-l’Aigle which, in Charlevoix, is known as le village des lilas (The Village of Lilacs), a great little place that serves nicely as the perfect little pied-à-terre while you explore Charlevoix. The noble white structure on its promontory, its terraces encircling the entire building, offers an unobstructed view of the broad expanse of the St. Lawrence River. If that picture-worthy landscape contains every bit of the rustic quality that defines Charlevoix, the generosity of the welcome provided by Florence and Patrick is also a credit to the region’s reputation as a beautiful spot for a holiday. You can enjoy a good night’s sleep in one of its rooms, the names of which suggest a larger bouquet, a joyful blooming: bellflower, primrose, hydrangea, tulip, and even pink lupin, like those found in abundance on neighbouring properties. Vivid, colourful, several with French doors and balconies, others even with fireplaces, these rooms are a haven from the bustle of our Charlevoix getaway that one is sorry to bid adieu to, save for when hungry and roused by the call of breakfast. As a B&B, the Fleurs de Lune inn won’t send you off to travel the byways of Charlevoix without first feeding you well: here, almost everything is home-made, from yogurt and fresh bread, to the jams and creton that adorn the gourmet plates of French toast and omelettes!
