The Colors of Winter

Winter in Charlevoix is synonymous with towering white heaps as far as the eye can see. Sometimes our snow banks even look like tunnels, and strong gusts of icy wind plow through the snowy fields until nothing is visible but a blanket of white.

But winter in Charlevoix also features evening skies in every shade of pastel, and the bright green boreal forest. In March, bold turquoise icebergs wash up, showing off the underbelly of sandy beaches at low tide… The region is brought to life by brightly coloured skis, helmets, snowshoes, fatbikes, snow kites, sea kayaks and other toys that aren’t afraid of the cold. The approaching darkness of an early dusk drapes down onto us, which hands over the stage to the shimmering lights of our cozy homes, restaurants and inns. These warm nests are host to heart-warming conversations held by wood fires and comforting beverages. Of course, there’s also the sparkle of the holidays! The magical fireworks turn February into the month of light, mimicking the mesmerizing northern lights just beyond reach above the mountains due North…

Charlevoix offers a world of flavours this season... That’s the Charlevoix that we’re celebrating in this winter edition of the web magazine Go Charlevoix!
