The (picnic) table’s been set by Emmy and Sophie, for a summer of discovery and gourmet experiences. Foodie friends: We wish you a Bon Appétit.

Emmy & Sophie wish you “Bon Appétit.”

They like a good glass of (preferably natural, and definitely from Quebec) wine!

When they talk about food, the conversation flows easily.

Their eyes sparkle as they spy a platter of locavore food to share with friends, and their mouths water just thinking about the fantastic pairing of cheese, nut bread, and farm cider…

Their résumés are full of references to tourism, communications, and entrepreneurship, but they prefer to talk about “years spent working in the field of fine and flavourful food.”

In a nutshell, they are two good friends with a passion for good food who want to bring us along on their next road trip in the countryside, on the hunt for the best local and regional products, exploring the most idyllic farms and, above all, meeting local and very passionate producers!

Caution: Epicurean young women entrepreneurs ahead!

Emmy provided food styling and photography. Sophie provided guided tours to tourists. Together, they are now a dynamic (by which we mean devilishly delicious) duo, working as partners under the name Bon Appétit. Having received an encouraging push from their participation in the regional Ose entreprendre entrepreneurship Gala last year, they’re now campaigning on the La Ruche [business incubator] platform, to acquire the means to realize their ambitions in the field of food tourism. In Charlevoix, as elsewhere in the province of Quebec, both clearly see the potential of developing this niche further. It’s no surprise that, on the one hand, producers who are already working very hard don’t always have the time and resources to provide a properly structured in situ agri-tourism experience on their property. On the other hand, when on vacation, it’s great to be taken by the hand and led down country roads in search of an authentic experience!

BonApp.

More than just an excellent play on words, the BonApp foodie passport is a promising first step for the fledgling business, and maybe even a small revolution in foodie tourism.

A new way to travel the rural roads of Quebec?

With its 10 local product tastings, the promise of discovering local producers while on a road trip: the digital passport is the perfect app for any foodie who’s looking for authenticity!
